Participant Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria to compete in the QSuper 2019 Queensland Police and Emergency Services Games

1. Purpose

The purpose of this document is to outline the eligibility criteria for persons desirous of participating in sporting events in the Queensland Police and Emergency Services Games. It is informed by the ‘Policy Guidelines on Participant Eligibility’ produced by the Australia and New Zealand Police Games Federation (ANZPGF). It aims to provide a clear understanding of which agencies and persons are eligible to participate in the games and that eligibility to participate is at the discretion of the Queensland Police Sporting Association Inc (‘the Association’).

2. Eligible Agencies

The following agencies are eligible to participate in the Queensland Police and Emergency Services Games:

  • Queensland Police Service
  • Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
  • Queensland Ambulance Service
  • Inspector-General Emergency Management
  • Queensland Corrective Services
  • Australian Federal Police
  • Australian Border Force
  • Crime and Corruption Commission
  • Surf Life Saving Queensland
  • Australian Red Cross (Qld Branch)
  • Marine Safety Queensland
  • Department of Agriculture and Fisheries
  • Volunteer Marine Rescue Association Queensland
  • Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission
  • Public Safety Business Agency.

Other Emergency Service agencies can make application to the Queensland Police Sporting Association for consideration of their eligibility. 

The Association reserves the right to refuse entry of any agency.

3. Eligible Persons

The following persons are eligible to participate: A fulltime, part-time, or volunteer member of an eligible agency listed in Section 2.

At the discretion of the Association, an immediate family member of a fulltime, part-time, or volunteer member of an agency is also eligible to participate.

The Association reserves the right to refuse entry of any person.

4. Retired and Separated Persons

Retired and separated employees with 10 or more years of service from any of the eligible agencies listed in section 2 are eligible to compete upon proof of such service.

5. Ineligibility

If a person attempts to enter or enters when he/she does not qualify, that person is immediately disqualified from competition.

If any competitor, team captain or coach enters another person that does not qualify for entry, that competitor or coach who submitted the entry shall be immediately disqualified.

If it is discovered that a team member has entered and does not qualify for entry that team is immediately disqualified from competition.

6. Age Limit

Competitors must be 18 years or over at the time of the Games. 

At the discretion of the Association, a person under the age of 18 may be permitted to participate in certain sporting events only.
